'The Chiltern Area has a fantastic network of public rights of way and the stunning landscape makes it the perfect place for a family walk at the weekend or to exercise the dog every morning ...' ALERT Chiltern District Council was abolished on 31 March 2020 and its area is now part of the unitary Buckinghamshire Council.
'A thriving market town that we hope you will visit as part of your exploration of the area - which has many beautiful and varied walks, and all at the end of the Metropolitan line!'

'The Chilterns AONB is blessed with a wealth of walking and cycling routes, which use the extensive network of footpaths, bridleways and quiet lanes that cross Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.'

'My hobby is walking and most weekends I go for a 12-15 mile walk, usually in the Chiltern Hills where I live. I then add a description of the walk to the latest walks page of this web site, complete with photographs and a map of the route (courtesy of Google Maps). I have also walked a number of long-distance paths ...'
'To the west of Chesham are a number of parallel valleys which offer delightful views of the rolling Chiltern countryside. Along the valleys run tracks with curious names such as Herbert’s Hole and Blind Lane and roads that on some days are almost devoid of traffic ...'
'Specially created walks around Chesham have been created with an accompanying set of well-designed and attractive leaflets to guide you on your way.'
'The Chiltern Heritage Trail Millennium Walking Route, to give it its full title, is a 52-mile circular walk through a section of the Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire. It was created by Chiltern District Council in 2000, as part of their Millennium celebrations ... Sadly, the Guide Book no longer seems to be available.' Also, it seems now that the Council no longer has any direct involvement with this Trail: I could not locate any description of the Trail on their Website at the time of Review. (For a time its name was promoted as a Cycle Route.)

'The Berkshire Loop is not really a separate long-distance path, it is an extension to the Chiltern Way. It was created in 2010 by the Chiltern Society, to mark the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Chiltern Way. I have recorded it here as a separate route, as it was created after both of my walks along the Chiltern Way ...'

'A number of countryside sites in the Chilterns are accessible to people with limited mobility. Eleven sites are featured in a "Countryside Walks for All" pack comprising walks likely to be suitable for people with impaired mobility and users of wheelchairs, mobility scooters and pushchairs. There is information on path surfaces, slope gradients, disabled parking and accessible toilets where available. You can see these walks on the interactive map, or we can send you a free pack ...'
'There are plenty of opportunities for some fresh air and exercise following one of our downloadable walks in the Chilterns Countryside. Admire the views at Coombe Hill, Pulpit Hill or Watlington Hill, or explore one of our longer walks. Alternatively, discover the Bradenham Estate or the woodland at Low Scrubs. If you would like to explore less well-known parts of the Chilterns, try one of our walks off the beaten track.'
'Whether walking, running or sitting, you can enjoy all areas of the Chilterns with these FREE guides ... All routes are circular unless stated otherwise and you will need PDF-viewing software in order to be able to view and print the leaflets.'
'Circular walks of 5 or 2.5 miles from Cholesbury near Wendover past an Iron Age hillfort and through woodland and farmland.'
'Great Missenden was home to Roald Dahl for 36 years until his death in 1990. He wrote all of his children's books and many of his adult short stories in the Writing Hut he had built in his garden. Many of Roald Dahl's stories are based in and around the village.'
'A series of five leaflets describing walks around the four villages of the parish have been produced to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee and the 40th Anniversary of the Local History Group in 2002. Each one contains information about the local history, wildlife and landscape that you might encounter on the walk which is characteristic to this part of the Chilterns ...'
