Many of the FEATURED Recorders of Paths and Trails have additional extensive coverage of Walks and Walking in the County

Overview

'Most people come on two or three walks before joining the group officially so there is no problem your just coming on a walk to try the group out and we'd be happy to see you there ... Whilst this walking group was initiated to cater for people in their 20's and 30's, the membership also includes those over this age range. To cater for this we have a sister group, the Weekend Walkers.'

Overview

'We have a fine selection of social walks throughout the year. Most are in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, or Berkshire, though we occasionally stray further afield. Naturally, the River Thames and the Chiltern Hills feature in many of our walks, which we aim to make friendly and enjoyable outings with a leader to guide us through the day. On most of our walks, unless it says otherwise in the programme, you should bring food and drink for lunch and snacks. If the leader has planned for the group to eat lunch in a pub this will be clearly stated in the programme.'

Overview

'Find out where to go to explore the Oxfordshire countryside using our online map that shows all public rights of way, open access land and our collection of walks and rides.'

Overview

'As an Area we organise many events throughout the year for the benefit of our members ... Oxfordshire Area has eight groups which cover different regions of the County ... These groups contribute walks to a 6-month programme which is published in booklet form and distributed to members ... A listing of the walks can be found following the ‘Walks Programme’ link under the ‘Walking’ item on the ‘home’ page ... We have two further groups who present their walks on Walks Finder ... both of whom cover all of Oxfordshire for their demographics.'

Overview

'In 1995, the Group published a book detailing 14 station to station walks all the way from Hereford to Oxford. 2000 copies of the fully illustrated book were printed and, almost all have now been sold. A second book, featuring walks in the opposite direction, was published in September 2009. This is available from local stations or, post free, from the Membership Secretary, to CLPG members, at a reduced price of £6.00.' ALERT At the time of Review, I could not find these books any longer listed on the CLPG Website.

Overview

'OCAF meets two to three times per year and main meetings are open to the public ... Expressions of interest for new members are always welcomed all through the year.'
